Perez New Assembly Speaker
Assembly member John Perez from Los Angeles has been elected the new California Assembly Speaker. His background includes over 15 years working with in th labor movement in Southern California. Speaker Perez is the first openly-gay speaker of the Assembly and takes over from Assembly member Karen Bass. He is also a member of the Democratic National Committee.
