The first meeting of the CLTA Agent’s Section was held during the recent Annual Convention and was well attended by various underwritten title companies located throughout the state. A number of topics were discussed and a number of UTC attendees showed a strong interest in filling a number of vacancies on various CLTA committees. The group agreed to have several meetings throughout the year as necessary, both by conference call and in-person options were discussed. The Section unanimously elected Mr. Jeff Kerns of Yosemite Title Company as the Chair, and Mr. Mike Tafoya of Advantage Title as the Vice-Chair for the 2010-2011 term. The group was addressed by President Elect Jeff Brown who had championed the creation of the Section in conjunction with the CLTA Board of Governors. The group was also briefed by Craig C. Page, CLTA Executive Vice President and Counsel, on topics ranging from regulation and legislation to current political developments in the state.
The group also heard from an Insurance Company representative regarding E&O insurance coverage and other materials were provided from other E & O insurance companies as well. CLTA sees the creation of this new committee as an exciting event that will maximize the distribution of information to UTCs and ensure that they have the ability to fully participate within the Association.
