The ALTA Annual Convention presented the opportunity for state associations to meet with ALTA representatives to strengthen collaboration and communication, particularly in advocacy efforts. CLTA Executive Vice President and Counsel Craig Page was one of the state association executives providing examples of the need to work together on issues that are being addressed simultaneously at the state and federal levels. Some examples of the past and current issues are private transfer fees and foreclosure legislation. The increased collaboration will benefit the title industry on both the state and federal level according to Page. ALTA leadership and a number of association leaders met in Austin, Texas on December 13th and 14th to kick start this effort. Page said the meeting was very productive and well attended and looks forward to working more closely with ALTA in the future.
