California now has an electronic recording system for the recording of government agency-originated documents. The first standardized XML transaction was recorded by the California Employment Development Department (EDD) with Kern County. The California Electronic Recording Delivery Transaction Network Authority (CERTNA) is a California Joint Powers Authority. CERTNA is managed by a Board composed of member Recorders from throughout California. The California Board of Equalization and EDD are currently contracted to utilize the CERTNA portal to submit and receive electronic images of documents. Several state submitters and county recorders are slated to join in the near future.
