The San Bernardino County Recorder’s office recently submitted a proposal to the California Attorney General’s Office for funding under the Foreclosure Crisis Recovery Fund.
The proposal arose out of work of the Electronic Recordation Delivery System (ERDS) Advisory Committee, comprised of representatives of the title industry, notaries, and county recorders. The San Bernardino County Assessor-Recorder-Clerk is seeking funding to develop a centralized electronic property transfer of title verification pilot program. The program elements would implement an inexpensive and non-intrusive check through a centralized submission process, electronic notarization and notary verification. The basic program elements would include legislation to support the pilot program.
Mr. Paul Flores, Chair of the CLTA Electronic Recording Delivery System (ERDS) Task Force is working with the AG’s Office and sponsors on this bill and will continue to keep CLTA in the loop.
