ALTA Speaks Out on GSE Reform
The American Land Title Association (ALTA) has issued a press release warning the Administration and Congress that any plans to significantly alter or eliminate Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac would have a severe impact on consumers as mortgage rates would increase and small businesses would be pushed out of the market. The ALTA suggests that rather than eliminate the two mortgage giants, Fannie and Freddie should be scaled back to their original mission, "to provide stability in the secondary market for residential mortgages."
