At the urging of CLTA’s current President, Joe McCabe, the CLTA has started a new group called the “Young Professionals Group.” The overall purpose of the group is to reach out to young professionals within the industry to see what issues of importance they would like to see the CLTA and the title industry address, and in so doing give them a better and more thorough understanding of how the industry works.
On February 9, the CLTA held its first teleconference call which was well attended by a number of newer professionals within the industry. . A number of the call participants indicated they would like to become local chapter leaders so that area chapters can meet in-person and provide a local forum, while still being part of the larger group within CLTA.
A number of participants stressed that they would like to see a better “cross pollination” between the escrow and title sides of the industry. A goal of the group is for title employees –especially new employees coming into the industry- to have a better understanding of all aspects of what title companies undertake in the generation of a title order, the actual title search, the underwriting process, and the escrow closing itself.
Other, more tenured title persons sitting in on the call were also interested in participating as mentors to young professionals who are looking to expand their understanding of what title insurance is and how title companies work.
The CLTA Board of Governors strongly supports this effort and welcomes any other industry professionals -both the younger professionals and the tenured mentors- to contact aj@clta.org to express an interest in participating in the group. Interested parties are encouraged to participate in an upcoming conference call scheduled for Thursday, March 8th, at 10:00 AM. Contact CLTA staff for details.
