January 17, 2012
The California State Legislature reconvened for the 2012 legislative session on January 4th after an almost month-long recess. The 2012 session enables legislators to move bills that failed to meet legislative deadlines last year. Legislators can also introduce new bills in the 2012 session until February 24th. Typically, the vast majority of new legislation is introduced the week before the deadline. Last year, over 1,000 of roughly 1,400 Assembly bills were introduced in the week leading up to the introduction deadline.
