Legislative Extension Planned for Foreclosure Law
Senator Corbett, chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee, has amended SB 708 (Corbett), formerly called the “Debt Settlement Consumer Protection Act”, to delete the former provisions and instead extend the sunset date on SB 1137 (Perata) (Ch. 69, 2008) to January 1, 2018. SB 1137 addressed foreclosure practices on certain loans by requiring pre-foreclosure borrower contact and extending the notice to tenants before eviction after foreclosure. The amendments were made on January 4th.
