CLTA Meets with Insurance Commissioner Jones
The CLTA recently met with the new California Insurance Commissioner, Dave Jones. The meeting was more of a “meet and greet” between the parties. In attendance at the meeting from the Department of Insurance was Commissioner Jones, Division Chief of Field Examinations, Al Bottalico, and Senior Staff Counsel of the Legal Division, Mary Ann Shulman. In attendance from CLTA were several officers from CLTA: Mr. Jeff Brown, Immediate Past President, President Joe McCabe, Second Vice President David Windle, and Craig Page, CLTA’s Executive Vice President and Counsel.
The topics of discussion ranged from insurance fraud to child support, and some discussion regarding the competitiveness of title insurance and the struggling real estate market. Mr. Page and the CLTA attendees stressed that CLTA welcomes working closely with the Department of Insurance and hopes the CDI will use CLTA as a resource if necessary.
