As part of on-going state/national title industry relations, several large-state association representatives met with ALTA representatives in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on August 3rd & 4th. This was the second of such meetings which were originally started because the CLTA, and several of the other larger state associations, wanted to ensure that the ALTA consulted with some of the larger and more organized state associations before undertaking actions at the national level that could adversely impact those states and their operations. Sixteen representatives from California, Texas, Pennsylvania, Florida, New York and Ohio were in attendance.
Many relevant topics were discussed including: (a) Identifying effective state title advocacy programs; (b) Greater advocacy and outreach from states & ALTA working together; (c) Discussion of where the lines are between state and federal advocacy programs; and (d) Enhanced interaction and communication between ALTA and large state associations.
