Solar Energy Zones Include Riverside County
The Department of Interior has finalized plans for solar energy zones on public lands, including California. The plan creates 17 Solar Energy Zones on public land for large scale solar development. Riverside County has more than half the designated acreage. The sites were chosen because of proximity to transmission facilities and relatively low environmental impact. The SEZ Program includes incentives for solar development within the zones, including streamlined permitting.
