Instructions for accessing the HMDA database:
When you go to the database, you will want to type in the name of the lender in the “Institution Name” field and then hit “Retrieve Institutions”.
On the next page you will find the correct lender and hit “Select Institution.”
This will bring you to a page that list the all the Metropolitan Statitistical Areas (MSA’s) that the lender has a physical office in.
Select the appropriate MSA or the N/A if your location is not listed. Do not choose the “Nationwide” selection as the useful volume data is only broken down by MSA.
Select the report for “A Applications by Tract” if you are looking for volume information in an MSA or county that the lender has a location in.
For all other localities choose “S-1 Supplemental Information.”
