On Tuesday, October 9th, the CLTA and Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner joined together to launch the TitleWizard, which allows consumer direct access to title rates and information about title insurance. CLTA President Margaret Foster introduced the Commissioner and was joined by CLTA Executive Vice President Craig Page in unveiling the new consumer oriented site.
Commissioner Poizner spoke about the TitleWizard and complemented the title industry for launching the site. Commissioner Poizner did a live demonstration of the TitleWizard in the sales office of a new home development. Mr. Anthony Farwell, President of ClosingCorp.com and developer of the TitleWizard, was also on hand to provide details about how consumers could use the site.
The event was very well attended by major media outlets. Stories appeared in the LA Times, the Sacramento Bee and Business Journals. Both CBS and ABC television affiliates aired reports. The real estate and title press, including Inman News and the Title Report, also ran stories. Radio station KFBK in Sacramento interviewed Commissioner Poizner and CLTA President Foster. The TitleWizard launch was also reported by Yahoo! News, bizjournal.com and other on-line news sites.
The spirit of cooperation between the CLTA and Commissioner Poizner was evident at the event. The launch of the TitleWizard showed a proactive title industry working to create more transparency in the marketplace for title insurance.
