Bulletin 11/12-65 - December 29, 2011
The California Supreme Court upheld Assembly Bill 1X 26 (Blumenfield) eliminating redevelopment agencies and thus allowing the revenue that would have gone to redevelopment agencies to be used to help balance the state budget. The Court ruling invalidated a companion measure, Assembly Bill 1X 27 (Blumenfield), that allowed redevelopment agencies to be reconstituted under new rules.
The Court exercised its power of reformation and revised each effective date or deadline arising before May 1, 2012 under AB 1X 26, to take effect four months later. The Court made its judgment immediately final.
