An Express Article from the California Land Title Association
Bulletin 06/07-31 - August 30, 2006
The California Land Title Association (CLTA) has endorsed Proposition 1C, the Housing and Emergency Shelter Trust Fund Act of 2006, on the November 2006 ballot.
Prop 1C would provide $2.85 billion for much needed affordable housing in California, including $725 million to help an estimated 23,600 families become or remain homeowners. Additionally, the Housing and Emergency Shelter Initiative is estimated to create 87,000 full time jobs and $3.5 billion in wages for California families.
Since 2002 California has benefited from the $2.1 billion housing bond known as Prop 46. Statewide, programs for shelter/supportive service housing, affordable rental apartments, and first-time homebuyers have resulted in over 40,000 homes being built and have leveraged over $5.5 billion from the private sector. Those funds are now running out and the successful passage of Prop 1C will continue the support of affordable housing in California.
For nearly 100 years, the CLTA and its member title companies have helped bring the dream of homeownership to California families. Our support for Proposition 1C is a continuation of our commitment to the people of California and the promise of strengthening its economy for the future.
