Entitle Direct is now licensed in 34 states and plans to offer nationwide coverage by the end of 2009.
A consumer-facing title insurance underwriter continued its expansion efforts with the launch of its digital platform in California.
EntitleDirect.com, which developed its digital platform to educate and empower consumers about how they can monitor their home closings and save on their title insurance policies, claims its site can save consumers 35 percent on title insurance.
Last year in California title insurance premiums totaled $2.1 billion. Through Entitle Direct, the company says consumers could have saved $705 million on those premiums.
EnTitle Insurance Co., which is headquartered in Cleveland, recently began offering title insurance policies to residents in 34 states. The company was founded in 1978 as Guardian National Title Insurance Co., but changed its name last year to reflect its new model, according to Chief Executive Officer Tim Dwyer. The company expects to offer nationwide coverage by the end of 2009.
Rather than working with real estate agents and other members of the real estate closing, EnTitle Direct consumers work directly with their title agency. They can monitor their closing process on a daily basis using the site's control panel, which has a patent pending with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, Dwyer said.
