Airbnb Sues Over San Francisco Law

Airbnb filed a federal lawsuit to enjoin amendments to San Francisco’s “Airbnb Law.” San Francisco’s amendments prohibit an individual from listing their unit for rent with an internet housing agent without the hosting platform first contacting the City’s Office of Short-Term Residential Rental Administration and Enforcement to verify that the unit is property registered with the City. Essentially, the platforms must insure compliance and remove non-compliant listings or face fines or criminal penalties.
