Mortgage Rates Climb Very Slightly

Last week’s data released by Freddie Mac shows that the 30-year fixed-rate average climbed to 3.47 percent with an average 0.6 points. It was 3.42 percent a week ago and 3.82 percent a year ago. The average rate has remained below 3.5 percent since June, except for one week in September when it hit 3.5 percent.

The 15-year fixed-rate average climbed slightly to 2.76 percent from 2.72 percent a week ago, with an average 0.6 point. A year ago the rate was 3.03 percent.

The five-year adjustable-rate average rose to 2.82 percent, with an average 0.4 point. The five-year adjustable rate has been stable for the last year at 2.8 percent a week ago and 2.88 percent a year ago.
