California has some Expensive Zip Codes and 5 out of 10 Most Expensive Metropolitan Areas

The Forbes Annual List of Most Expensive Zip Codes based on median price has three California zip Codes in the top ten. Sorry, Beverly Hills 90210, you made it into the top 20 but not the top 10. Five of the most expensive zip codes are in New York, New York, with another one in Sagaponack, New York. Heading the list in California was Atherton (94072) at number 3 with a median price of $7,200,000, Los Altos Hills (94022) at number 8 with a median price of $6,081,192, and Hidden Hills (91310) at number 10 with a median price of $5,701,150. Believe it or not, the most expensive zip code was 33462 - Manalapan, Florida with a median price of $7,800,000. California counties also accounted for five of the ten most expensive metropolitan areas in the United States in the third quarter of 2016, with Santa Clara County ranking #1 with the San Jose-Sunnyvale-Santa Clara metropolitan area. The median sale price of $1 million reflects the Silicon Valley boom. Number 2 is no surprise, it is the nearby San Francisco-Oakland-Hayward metro-area that lies within San Francisco and Alameda Counties. The other top metro-areas include portions of Orange County, San Diego County and Los Angeles County. Some inland areas of California continue to struggle with prices still below the peak of the housing market a few years.
