Solar energy installation companies would be required to provide homeowners with additional disclosure information prior to the signing of a solar lease under AB 1070 (Gonzalez-Fletcher). Furthermore, the legislation would provide homeowners with a “cooling off” period, during which they could cancel an energy system installation agreement. The CLTA has consistently been a vocal supporter of enhanced consumer protections for homeowners considering solar energy systems and is in support of the measure. The bill is also supported by the California Association of Realtors. The bill recently passed the State Assembly and is scheduled for a hearing in the Senate Business, Professions, and Economic Development Committee in late June.
