Governor Brown signed Assembly Bill 794 (Gallagher) into law to allow specified persons to request that information in the recorder's index of record be corrected. The law requires that upon being provided sufficient evidence, the recorder must correct those indexing errors. The request to correct the information contained in an index of a record must identify the exact location of an error within a specifically identified index entry. The recorder then has 30 business days to correct the entry. The corrected index is required to reflect both the error and the correction.
