Assembly Bill Seeking to Apply Stricter Privacy Requirements to Local Agencies Stalls in Senate

​Assembly Bill 1337 (Ward) seeks to expand the state’s Information Privacy Act by applying its requirements and obligations to local agencies. Under existing law, the application of the IPA is limitedapplies to state agencies. The CLTA has engaged in discussions with the author’s office and sponsor over the measure’s potential to disrupt real estate transactions if not amended to exempt information contained within documents intended for public disclosure, including public records.
