California’s Q3 Title Insurance Premiums Increased 9.9%

According to ALTA’s latest Market Share Analysis, the title industry nationwide generated $4.9 billion in premiums during the third quarter of 2025, up 14.2% compared to the same period during 2024. 

​California title premiums were $407.1 million (+9.9%). California ranked third among the top five states in the third quarter, behind Texas at #1 and Florida at #2. New York came in at #4 and Pennsylvania at #5.

During the third quarter of 2024, total operating income for the entire industry was up 13.6%, while operating expenses, and loss and loss adjustment expenses were up 13.8%. This resulted in net operating gain of $268.1 million.

Through the first nine months of 2025, title insurance premium volume was up 13.5% ($13.6 billion) compared to the first nine months of 2024 ($11.6 billion). The title industry paid $493.8 million in claims during the first nine months of 2025. This is down from $502.8 million in claims paid during the same period a year ago.
