After the settlement of a personal injury lawsuit, an unknown third-party purporting to be plaintiff's counsel sent spoofed e-mails to defense counsel providing fraudulent wire instructions for the settlement proceeds and absconded with the funds. ALTA filed an amicus brief on Sept. 2 supporting Fidelity National Financial’s motion for summary judgment in its challenge to the FinCEN's Anti-Money Laundering (AML) rule for residential real estate transactions.

Last Thursday Freddie Mac released the results of its weekly Primary Mortgage Market Survey® (PMMS®), showing the 30-year fixed-rate mortgage (FRM) averaged 6.35%. The Survey is focused on conventional, conforming, fully amortizing home purchase loans for borrowers who put 20% down and have excellent credit.
