CLTA Celebrates Outstanding Title Industry Leaders

First established in 2009, the CLTA Presidential Award is an award given by the current CLTA President, and is intended to formally recognize those individuals who have performed exemplary work to the benefit of the title industry.

​This year, CLTA President Shari Schneider presented these awards to the following well-deserving recipients during the CLTA’s 118th Annual Convention:

Presidential Award:

• Jan Feryus, First American Title Insurance Company:  Jan is a long-serving member of the CLTA Forms & Practices Committee, where she acts as Chair and Co-Chair of the Forms and Manual Sections, respectively. Over the past few years, Jan has been instrumental to the Committee’s efforts to streamline and modernize CLTA’s library of policy and endorsement forms. More recently, Jan — along with her colleague, CLTA Board Member, Kazmer Bernath — has taken on the task of helming the Manual Section of the F&P Committee, with the goal of maintaining and improving the important and long—used CLTA Manual publication.
  
  
• Nancy Tarr, First American Title Insurance Company: Nancy is the Chair of CLTA’s Settlement Committee, which, in addition to its other work and in conjunction with the FinCEN Working Group, has invested considerable time and effort into reviewing, commenting on, and providing education for, the recently finalized FinCEN Real Estate Reporting Rule. Nancy has been key to the Committee’s/Working Group’s efforts, including her work in analyzing the proposed rule and industry impact, guiding discussion, gathering and organizing committee contributions, assisting with comment letter drafting, and conducting educational outreach, among other related tasks.

The CLTA also has a tradition of giving out an Honorary Membership, conferred by the CLTA Board, in order to recognize contributions made by those individuals that have committed considerable time and effort over the course of their careers within the title industry to CLTA. This year, the CLTA Board conferred Honorary CLTA Membership to three individuals for their outstanding contributions to the Association and title industry:

• Roger Therien, Old Republic National Title Insurance Company
• Steve Tjaden, Old Republic National Title Insurance Company
