The CLTA is pleased to announce the release of its newest CLTA Titlecast, Episode 46: High Risk Transactions – Free & Clear Properties, brought to you by the CLTA Education Committee. This short presentation dives into something very timely and important – free and clear Properties. Criminals pose as real property owners and attempt to sale free and clear property, often vacant land or non-owner occupied properties, they do not own. Free and clear properties are one of the most common targets. Remember - criminals look for pressure points. They time their approach around long weekends and holidays, when offices might be short-staffed and in a rush to close. If something strikes you as even remotely suspicious, it is critical to stop, think, and verify – pause, ask more questions and seek additional input from your legal counsel. Being educated, aware, and vigilant is what helps you to identify these at-risk transactions before they close.
