As recently amended, Senate Bill 302 (Padilla) would require the California Privacy Protection Agency to obtain a list of all state and local elected officials, which shall serve as each elected official’s request to delete their personal information. Each elected official has an opportunity to request that the elected official’s name and profile data be removed from the list. The Judicial Council would be required provide the California Privacy Protection Agency with a list of all California judges and each judge is given an opportunity to request that the judge’s name and profile data be removed from the list. After receipt of the lists, the California Privacy Protection Agency will upload the list to the accessible deletion mechanism already established by law. Then, beginning August 1, 2026, an entity receiving a notification that a deletion is required must do so within five days.
