I am saddened to share that David Windle, a long-time member of the CLTA F&P Committee and CLTA Board, CLTA Past President, and respected colleague, recently passed away. David was a prominent fixture within CLTA for decades, known for his humor, warmth, and unwavering support of the Association and its members. He began his career in the title industry in 1973 as a title examiner for Cal-Sierra Title Company before moving into escrow work and ultimately purchasing the company in 1998.
In addition to serving on the CLTA Forms & Practices Committee, David served on the CLTA Board for nearly 20 years, beginning in 2007. He also served as CLTA President in 2013-14, and helped lead efforts on industry-sponsored legislation modifying the rules governing the licensing of underwritten title companies for escrow services, which was ultimately signed into law by then-Governor Jerry Brown. David was recognized for these and other contributions in 2016 as the recipient of the CLTA Presidential Award. Beyond his many contributions to the title industry, David also dedicated more than 40 years of service to his community as Deputy Fire Chief of the Quincy Fire Department. David was a steadfast advocate for the title industry and a deeply valued member of the CLTA community for many years. Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones. He will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life has been planned for August 8, 2026 at the Plumas County Fairgrounds. More information can be found here. Comments are closed.
