Opendoor Announces Acquisition of Doma Closing and Escrow Operations

Opendoor announced the acquisition of the closing and escrow operations of Doma from Title Resources Group, subject to regulatory approval. 

​The announcement states that as part of the transaction, Opendoor and Doma are partnering with Fannie Mae on the Title Acceptance Program, which established a pilot program alternative to Fannie Mae’s acceptance of lenders’ title insurance policies on eligible refinance transactions. Opendoor reported a $1.3 billion net loss for the full year 2025, a significant increase from the $392 million loss in 2024, driven by a 17.9% drop in annual revenue to $4.37 billion. The net loss included significant non-cash debt charges.

Separately, members of the title industry have met with Fannie Mae officials and members of Congress to point out the risks and deficiencies in accepting non-insurance products, urging them to consider that the events of the last nationwide real estate crisis illustrate the importance of insurance coverage for federally-sponsored governmental entities.
