March 19, 2018
Representatives from the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) have indicated that the Geographic Tracking Orders (GTOs) originally set to expire tomorrow, 3/20/18, have now been renewed through September 16th, 2018.
FinCEN does not plan to issue a press release on the GTO renewal, and has stated in communications that the renewed GTOs contain no substantive changes to the existing GTO terms. FinCEN representatives indicate that intended recipients can expect to receive notices on the renewed GTOs shortly if they haven’t already.
As a reminder, GTOs require all title insurers to acquire and report information from transactions meeting certain criteria. Any questions about the Orders should be directed to the FinCEN Resource Center at 800-767-2825.
Frequently asked questions regarding GTOs are available on the FinCEN website at https://www.fincen.gov. [Editor's Note: The FinCEN website seems to temporarily be down; if you have trouble accessing the site please try again later.]
