As viewers of the HGTV show "Fixer Upper" know, Chip and Joanna Gaines decided to end the show after 5 seasons, with the show's final episode airing this past April. With reporting now highlighting a decline in home sales, the question now looms: after five years of renovating homes in Waco, Texas, did the Gaines call a top in the real estate market?

Amongst other news outlets calling attention to indicators that the real estate market may be cooling down, the Wall Street Journal reported that home sales declined on an annual basis for five of the first sixth months of the year. New home construction declined 12.3% in June from the prior month according to the Commerce Department. California’s market was not immune to the decline with rising rates and low inventory impacting sales activity.
