After a frenetic final week, Friday, August 31st saw the 2017-18 Legislative Session adjourn for Final Recess. During the last days of Session, California lawmakers considered and passed a number of high-profile bills, including legislation relating to the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), net neutrality, wildfires, and California’s energy portfolio.

As of this writing, Governor Brown has signed 144 bills since the Legislature adjourned, with another 820 bills awaiting his consideration. An additional 1,778 bills did not make it to his desk, having failed critical deadlines throughout the year that prevented their passage.

The 2017-18 Session adjourns sine die on November 30th. Lawmakers are then expected to meet for an Organizational Session relating to the 2019-20 Regular Session on December 3rd.
