Tuesday, January 14, 2020
We regret to inform CLTA members that Roy Joseph Frank, formerly with Stewart Title Guaranty, passed away on Friday, December 27th, 2019.
Roy was the CLTA President from 1991 – 1992. He also sat on the CLTA Board for several decades and was involved in many efforts within the association to benefit the title industry and consumers.
Prior to starting in the title industry, Roy graduated with a degree in Business and Industrial Management from San Jose State University in 1969, paying his way through college as a flight instructor and charter pilot for Piper Corporation. After college, he worked and managed a large accounts receivable factoring company in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Roy's 40+ year career in the title industry started with him as an escrow branch manager in Menlo Park, where he quickly worked his way to county manager before starting his own locally owned title company in San Mateo County.
After selling the title company to a large underwriter, he remained for an additional 10 years running his old company before joining Stewart Title Guaranty. Roy worked for many years as the Senior Vice President and Agency Services Manager for Stewart Title Guaranty, responsible for California, Nevada, Hawaii, and Guam/Saipan. He was one of six people nationally that conducted leadership training for the company.
Roy retired from Stewart effective May, 2012 after which he explored a number of interests that ranged from bread making to woodworking, and founded a company that provided coaching and facilitator services in sales, management, and leadership in the services based industries.
Because of his prominent role within Stewart, Roy was well known throughout California and the title industry. His larger-than-life personality will be missed by those who were fortunate enough to know him.
Roy is survived by his wife, Marcia; children Elizabeth Maese and Thomas Frank; his grandchildren Bryce Maese, Christopher Maese, Grace Frank, and Tulsi Frank; his sister, Ingebrg Geissler, as well as a number of nieces and nephews.
Family, friends, and colleagues are invited to attend a celebration of life event on February 22, 2020, at the El Dorado Hills CSD Pavilion from 3:30-5:30 PM.
